Win a Free Trip to South Africa from Africa Adventure Consultants

Update: I’m about to put the finishing touches on an huge trip to a continent I’ve never been to before, but that continent is unfortunately not Africa. Don’t get me wrong, I’m freakin’ thrilled about this upcoming journey (which you now know is to Asia, South America, Australia or Antarctica), but I’ve been dying to go to Africa – anywhere in Africa – ever since I got my first globe as a child. Sigh… perhaps someday soon. You don’t have to wait, though, thanks to the Monkey See, Monkey Do African Safari Contest from Africa Adventure Consultants.

The grand prize for this contest is a 10-day safari exploring the famous Garden Route in South Africa including accommodations, meals, activities and round trip flights from gateway cities in the U.S. Seeing as this trip would regularly cost thousands upon thousands of dollars to carry out, this is something you all should be jumping on immediately.

It’s not even hard to enter, so you have no excuse. All you have to do is make a short video imitating your favorite African animal and upload the video to either YouTube or Vimeo. Like cheetahs? Strip to your skivvies, cover yourself in spots with a Sharpie, and tape yourself sprinting through the street. Hippos more your style? Gain 100 pounds super fast and float in a pond for a while.

The deadline for entries is January 31, 2013 at which time the top 25 videos (voted for by the public) will make the finals. A panel of judges will then select the winner, who will get the trip of a lifetime with their whole family. Not sure if those of us without a spouse and two children can use the guest tickets for gal pals and bro friends, but hey – it’s worth a shot.

Time is running out to enter your video, so we suggest getting on it ASAP. Who knows, maybe you’ll get a camcorder and a pumpkin pie belly this Christmas, making the aforementioned hippo scenario that much easier.
