If the weekend is for hard liquor and midweek is celebrated as “Wine Wednesday,” that means there’s only one boozy elixir to take the edge off after an inevitably crappy Monday: beer!
I was introduced to the wide world of beer drinking with a 40 oz bottle of Bud Heavy that was handed to me during my welcome week of college. Sure it’s lowbrow, but I was 18 and thoroughly enjoyed the novelty of holding a giant beer like a baby bottle. But as my mind matured over the course of my schooling, so did my taste buds, and eventually I realized that beer comes in all different shapes, sizes, alcohol consistencies, and even nationalities. German Wheat Beer! Chimay from Belgium! Fosters, Australian for beer! The drunk and the traveler in me finally held some common ground.
However, looking at this infographic from Term Life Insurance (of all places…), I realize that I have barely dipped the tip of my tongue into the pint glass of global beer production. For instance, I’ve never seen the 10.9% alcohol Mikkeller made from “droppings of weasel-like civel cats” on tap, but I’d love to know where I could. And look at all those fun German-sounding names! If I trust a German for one thing, it’s to get me rosy-face wasted with a growler of something heady. But really, that is neither here nor there…
Take a gander at the strongest and strangest beers in the world, and let us know in the comments if you’d ever take the gamble in trying any yourself! Judging by our enthusiasm, it should be clear that we totally would.

Oh boy… I would LOVE the responsibility of trying all of those.
