The act passed by Congress to make an official state park out of America’s contribution to the Seven Natural Wonders of the World happened 94 years ago today. The Grand Canyon itself is about 17 million years old, but since no one was around to Instagram the 277 miles of carving by the Colorado River back then – who cares? We’re not geologists! And we know that because we don’t make nearly as much money as they do.
The Grand Canyon really is something of a pantheon to a natural world long before ours and has had magnetic appeal to photographers for ages. We’ve culminated a small collection here of some truly remarkable photographs that simply need to be seen. And if you really want to take your celebration to the next level, follow it up with a movie night.
