Dubai cannot stop building tall things. Seriously, the city is addicted to skyscrapers and needs to seek professional help.

The newest addition to the absurd skyline is the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, which at 1099 feet is the tallest hotel in the world. Only one of the hotel’s two towers is currently open, but it’s already dripping with the kind of luxury that has become commonplace in what we consider to be the Kim Kardashian of global cities.

Both towers are 72 storeys tall, and each contains 804 rooms, nine 5-star dining establishments, five bars, two ballrooms, various lounges, a health club and a spa. Oh, and there’s also a giant swimming pool on the seventh floor and an observation deck at the top for panoramic views of Dubai, because why not.

If you’re feeling indulgent, rooms start at $319 per night – but those are just the base level rooms for lowly plebes. You’d probably have to sell your grandmother’s gold fillings to afford the “king rooms” and executive suites.

Or, if you’d like to check out the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai without declaring bankruptcy, take a peek at these just-released photos and wish you weren’t such a poor, pathetic loser.

  1. As a lowly plebe, that price sounds surprisingly low to me for a “JW with tallest hotel bragging rights”. May be worth trying to stay there especially for those with Marriott Rewards status – you can hopefully get upgraded for free (and then maybe you won’t need to visit the Burj Kalifa which is $$ just for admission).
