Who Would the World Elect as President of the US?

Now that we’ve reached the too-close-for-comfort end of the race for President of the United States, everyone is anxiously awaiting the numbers to be crunched in a handful of states that could sway the vote one way or the other. However, if other countries around the world were in charge of electing our leader, the race would be nowhere near as stressful – Obama would win in a landslide.

According to a poll of 21 countries conducted by GlobeScan/PIPA, around half of all people surveyed abroad prefer Obama while only 9 percent would vote for Romney. While the rest of the people polled declared no preference between the two candidates, Obama still pulled off an easy win in 20 of the 21 countries:

Nations that Prefer Barack Obama

Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya,
Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Poland, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom

Nations that Prefer Mitt Romney

Pakistan

Don’t feel too bad for Mittens, though – a Win-Gallup International poll conducted in September showed that the Republican candidate also has a substantial amount of fans in Georgia (the country), Israel, and Macedonia. Oh yeah, and then there’s the fact that the American people are the only ones who can elect their president so these polls have no real impact on what to expect tonight.

Looks like we’re going to be white knuckling it through the home stretch, folks!
